Sense/Net

Sándor Kiss

CEO, Program Manager

My role and focus in this project is to meet the quality goal of delivering the product within project constraints. The Program Manager owns and drives the schedule, the features, and the budget for the project. I am the CEO of Sense/Net and I have more than 10 years of experience in project management.

I was born on March 11, 1974. I graduated from the Economics University of Budapest as an MSc in Economics in 1998. In my rare spare time I enjoy paragliding, playing football and writing short stories.

Tamás Bíró

Marketing director, Product Manager & User Experience

You might wonder what a marketing guy does in an open source project. Well, pretty much, indeed. My job is to show you how can you benefit from using the current version, and to find out what you might need in the next version. I research, define and evangelize features of Sense/Net 6.0 (codename: Portal Engine TNG). I am also responsible for branding, public relations and our websites.

I was born in 1974 and by the time I was 10, I was a computer geek. I studied to be an engineer at the Nottingham Trent University & Kandó Kálmán College, and in 1995 my friend Sandor Kiss and I founded Sense/Net. Although I am basically a coder, I soon started to deal with the more humane parts of IT, such as usability, GUI design, methodologies and marketing. This altogether makes me a marketing guy with an MCSD exam :-)

I took part in the design of all previous Sense/Net Portal Engine versions. In 6.0, my favorite parts are Portal Remote Control and Portal Explorer. The very idea of making 6.0 open source also comes from me.

In my rare spare time, I enjoy photography, cooking, drinking Belgian beer, and playing foosball. I also love Star Trek and LOTR. Nerdy, isn't it?

Péter Áron "Zpace" Zentai

CTO, Chief Architect & Evangelist

My responsibilities in the 6.0 team relate to a wide range tasks with my primary focus on inbound and outbound technology evangelization. Implementing the SOA layer over our services is also my job – better yet my duty.

I am in the enterprise application development since 1995 – yeah, that time the world did not even have XML invented, and <%= ComObject.Property %> in an html (asp) page was a new and fancy thing , though guys creating web applications outside of a linux box without apache and perl were viewed with great suspicion and were largely considered demented. During this past 14 years I participated in countless of interesting software development projects. My favorites are the real time stock trader system for the Hungarian Commodity Exchange, the web based ERP application developed at Scala Business Solutions (now called Epicor) for 100+ hotel chains, and the first Hungarian .NET based commercial application: the IVY PortalSpace.

My hobbies to my great luck all endorse my professional life. I love experiencing with new technologies - mostly from Microsoft software bakeries. Any time, any condition. Otherwise I am a great fan of the English language – it is so concise yet is able to express so many  nuances – so that I do prefer it in some cases to my native one (hu-HU), for example reading.

Zoltán Gyebrovszki

Senior Developer, Architect (on the left)

My duties in the Sense/Net 6.0 project are PFS-API and Engine-API design and implementation. I also do Engine - ASP.NET integration.

I have been programming since 1981. I have one wife, two children, and four wheels :)

Attila Szabó

Senior Developer

One thing that may sound interesting about me: I like what I’m doing, because if I didn't love it, I'd be doing something else.

My main task with Sense/Net 6.0 is control development. What controls? ASP.NET AJAX Extender controls combining other client side javascript libraries such as TinyMCE, ExtJS (Toolbar, Grid, Tree, etc). Why? Because we like these tools :)

Miklós Tóth

Developer, Oracle Porting

I am the only member of the Oracle porting team right now, so it’s basically a one man show at the moment. If my work is correct, nobody spots it because the portal works. Just like with MS SQL.

I've been working in the .Net world for 6 years. I try to use this knowledge to make my and other peoples' lifes easier :-)

When I'm out of office, I can be found in one of the swing dance halls or art cinemas of Budapest. If not, it means that finally I've managed to get a reserve parachute and a free weekend to practice paragliding.

Gergő Molnár

Senior Developer

My motto is "Hardening security is an ancient Roman custom."

I met computer technolgy as a child when I first saw a Commodore 64 (about 20 years ago). I fell in love immediately. I felt something similar when I first worked with the .NET Framework, and I have been a .NET developer since the 1.1 version.

In the Sense/Net 6.0 project my main responsibilites are the database layer, the virtual file system, some aspects of security (authentication and authorization) and caching.

If you understand Hungarian, check out my blog at http://otperc.net.

Gergely Orosz

None of us is average on this team and I’m no exception either. Take an open minded person  with a strive for innovation, add a lot of enthusiasm and you’ll be quite close. As of now I’m the newest and youngest member of the team and am working mostly on addons shipping with Sense/Net 6.0. You’ll also be reading blog and wiki articles from me as well.

Compared to the other team members I’m quite a newbie to .Net having used it on a daily basis only since the 2.0 version (I wasn’t really satisfied with .Net 1.1). Coding is something a developer can’t avoid however my interest of focus is mainly on planning and designing solutions. In July, 2008 I took part in the finals of Microsoft Imagine cup and finished third worldwide with the Hungarian team, also winning an innovation award. We developed an intelligent watering system using Microsoft technologies and assembling some hardware.

When it comes to freetime it’and the weather’s fine I’m always in for a streetball game, otherwise heading for the pool. I’m also fond of cocktails – I actually have quite an impressive mini bar so let me know if you have a good recipe. And I occasionally also write posts on my blog – Greg Does IT – which is mostly on software development related topics. Check in if you’re interested!

Péter Nochta

Developer, Mono Porting

As a member of the 6.0 (TNG) team, my task is MONO porting. My main responsibilities are WebPartmanager and porting the related internal infrastructure. I have been developing software for 5 years now. I went to college to Gábor Dénes College of Technology, IT major (however, I have not received my diploma yet). I was born on 15 Dec 1980. I spend my free time with my 9 month old daughter.
