For the year 2010, Pécs was designated by the European Union as the European Capital of Culture (ECoC).

Despite of the short time of period Newnet closed their first Sense/Net project with outstanding experiences.

Conceived as a means of bringing citizens of the European Union closer together, the European City of Culture was launched in 1985. Consequently, the beneficial socioeconomic development and impact for the chosen city are now also considered in determining the chosen cities.
